Bill's work has been featured in several group shows throughout New York City, including the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Leslie Lohman Gallery, The West Side Arts Coalition, and The Empire State Building. His most recent one man shows were "Pastels in the Park" held at The Hoboken Public Library, and "A View for all Seasons" at The Hoboken Historical Museum. Bill's portraits, still lifes, landscapes and figure paintings have earned him many awards. For the past three years his work has been featured in Hoboken's Open Studio Tour Guide. This year, Bill's work was featured on the October cover of the Hoboken Current, the Open Studio Tour issue. He was quoted as saying "I hope to help people see the beauty around them". He as been a guest lecturer on Pastels at the The Hoboken Public Library. In 1995 his drawing "Manhattan from Hoboken", was selected by painter Jane Freilicher, to be included in a summer show at The Bowery Gallery, New York, NY. Bill has held several positions in the commercial art field. He was Art Director and Illustrator for Lord & Taylor , in New York City for 16 years. His drawings and designs appeared regularly in many publications, including The New York Times. Bill earned a degree in Advertising Design in 1979 at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Florida before studying art in New York City at School of Visual Arts, Fashion Institute of Technology, Parsons School of Design, The National Academy of Design and The Arts Students League. Nature was his first love. Bill believes Nature and walking are answers to being creative. Bill finds inspiration in the work of artists Claude Monet, Fairfield Porter, Vincent van Gogh, and Wolf Kahn. |
